1The India Canada Association of Calgary referred to as INCA is a non-profit organization, which is committed to promoting and preserving the understanding of history, cultural and traditional values of the Indian sub-continent amongst all Indo-Canadians in Calgary. INCA also attempts to create avenues for sharing values with other cultural and ethnic groups in Calgary.

As an ‘umbrella’ organization of currently fifteen ethnic groups, INCA strives to represent them at provincial and federal governments as a unified force at various levels. The organization also creates opportunities for interacting with other ethnic organizations representing different parts of the world to generate greater understanding and good will. INCA is committed to the concept of multiculturalism. In all activities conducted, INCA upholds its most profound motto ‘ institution of excellence’ as the focus for constant improvement.

INCA was founded in 1969 as the India Canada Society of Calgary and subsequently the name was changed to the India Canada Association of Calgary in 1976, on becoming an ‘umbrella’ organization. The INCA Council, comprising of representatives from each of the affiliated groups, is empowered to elect the INCA management committee with six executive committee members to govern the day-to-day affairs of the organization. Membership is open to all those who support its aims and objectives.

The India Canada Association of Calgary celebrates its 40th anniversary this year. In order to commemorate this achievement the organization has adopted its own flag with the motto institution of excellence. Every effort is being made to further enhance the commitment of INCA to the welfare of Indo-Canadians in Calgary. All the former presidents and their respective committee members should feel gratified in having contributed towards making INCA as a reputed community organization in Calgary. INCA also pays special tribute to all its affiliated organizations for working together to build unity amidst diversity.
